Friends & Family Support Network
The Family Support Network (FSN) of TCE is an organization made up of families and friends of TCE residents. The group meets several times a year as a way of keeping in touch both with each other, and with what is happening in the organization. It provides a way to support TCE and our family members, and encourage each other. The FSN has a representative to the TCE Board. The TCE Executive Director (or representative) attends FSN meetings and gives updates on recent issues and activities. Activities in which FSN members have participated are: Cedarview Middle School Walkathon: Organized by an FSN member family, the Walkathon has raised several thousand dollars/year for TCE over the past ten years. August Picnic/Barbecue at Andrew Haydon Park: Organized by the FSN, held in August every year, with invitations to all TCE residents and families who wish to come, this event is administered, decorated, and fed by volunteers from the FSN. Annual Christmas Party: This event is organized by the TCE Board, for all residents, staff, families and friends, with support from volunteers from the FSN. In the past few years, the party has been held at Cedarview Middle School, and several pupil, parent and school staff volunteers have supported the event. TCE Annual General Meeting: Family members are invited each year to attend the fall meeting of the TCE Board where the annual report and financial statement are presented. TCE All-Family Survey: All families of TCE residents participated in a survey in the Spring of 2008. The purpose was to determine families' level of satisfaction with TCE's care of their family members, and to invite suggestions as to what aspects of TCE's service ranked of greatest to least importance to them. Responses were generally positive and helpful, and feedback was passed to the management team for inclusion in their planning for the future. We encourage all families to officially join the FSN, by contributing/maintaining your $10/year family memberships. This will help to offset the cost of mailings that are sent out to inform you of upcoming meetings and events. We also encourage you to attend the meetings held every few months. Every new face makes the meeting that much better, and enriches the conversations of this circle of families who share such profound and unique concerns.
